Here at Washington Brights Family Childcare, we provide more than child supervision; we offer a safe, deliberate environment with a focus on safety, development, and collaboration with parents. All our policies and practices are based on one single belief: that your child should be seen, heard and supported daily.
We do not have rules on paper, but we live by them, and we do this. This blog will guide you through the core values underlying our childcare services and help parents and parents-to-be realise what to expect from our team.
1. Certified Care That You Can Rely On
As an authorised childcare program, we take pride in our standards and compliance with the requirements of the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF). Licensing makes sure that we operate on high standards of:
- Child protection and employee education
- Health and emergency preparedness
- Learning environment is appropriate for the age group.
- Monitoring, hygiene and food
By selecting Washington Brights, you choose care that is periodically evaluated, revised, and consistent with professional best practices.
2. We are Mandated Reporters
Safety of Children is our number one. We are mandated reporters, and we have a legal and ethical obligation to report child abuse and neglect. We take keeping every child safe very seriously, and this policy is more than just a legal requirement.
We stand hand in hand with families, bringing trust and communication to the families, and are always available to provide support or guide you in any area where you feel we need to involve ourselves at home or in our program. Children flourish when they feel safe, and we do not take shortcuts on that.
3. Flexible Support, Clear Boundaries
We understand that life can be unpredictable. That’s why we do our best to offer flexibility where it matters, such as with scheduling adjustments, communication styles, or gradual transitions into care. However, we also believe that clear boundaries and consistent routines are necessary for children’s well-being and staff sustainability.
We reserve the right to refuse or discontinue care if:
- A child’s behavior consistently compromises the safety of others
- A family is not complying with health or pick-up policies
- There is a breakdown in communication or alignment with our values
We never make these decisions lightly, but we do uphold them to protect the integrity and stability of our childcare environment for all families.
4. We Believe in Growth—Not Guarantees
We allow children to develop emotionally, socially and intellectually daily. We do not promise certain milestones or results, however. Each child grows in their own time, and all we should do is to nurture, coach and inspire them in the process- not to hurry and stress them on achievement.
Families will have the reward of improvement, happiness, and development. Everyone should always cooperate with others patiently and with knowledge.
5. Emergency Shutdowns Real-World Readiness
Life is changeable. We might temporarily close in weather crises, power cuts or matters concerning the safety of the public. We make every effort not to interrupt, but we cannot be responsible in reference to unavoidable closures caused by emergency events.
When it comes to communicating with the families, we communicate at the earliest and most clearly to ensure that the families plan accordingly.
6. Respect, Communication, and Partnership
The heart of our childcare model is open and respectful communication. We encourage families to:
- Share important updates about their child’s routines, moods, or needs
- Ask questions or raise concerns openly
- Provide feedback so we can continue improving
- Stay informed about policy changes and seasonal updates
In return, we promise transparency, warmth, and professionalism every day.
